GED®– what is it?
GED® stands for General Educational Development. The GED® is a program that’s an alternative to a high school diploma. It is designed for people who were not able to complete their high school education. By taking the test, you demonstrate that you have the same knowledge and skills as someone who has completed high school in the United States. When you pass, you get a certificate that offers you the same opportunities as a high school diploma.
GED® vs. high school diploma: what’s the difference?
The GED® is a credential you can receive after passing four exams.
High school diplomas are obtained after four years of high school.
A GED® is equivalent to a high school diploma. Both show that you have the knowledge and skills of someone who completed 12th grade.
